David Marchand has been a trial attorney for eighteen years, and has conducted jury trials of personal injury, medical malpractice, and wrongful death cases in Texas and Oklahoma.

Mr. Marchand received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Texas A&M University in 1983, with minors in English and mathematics. He then earned a Master of Science degree in Aerodynamics from the Guggenheim School of Aeronautics at the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1986. Mr. Marchand then worked as an aerodynamic design engineer for North American Aircraft in California, where he focused on computational fluid dynamics and wind tunnel testing of advanced military aircraft. He also managed teams of engineers and scientists working on, among other projects, supersonic flight tests funded by NASA, conducted at Edwards Air Force Base in California. Mr. Marchand was one of the original aerodynamic designers of the X-31A experimental fighter aircraft.

In 1991 Mr. Marchand returned to Texas to pursue a career in law, where he enrolled in Southern Methodist University School of Law. During law school Mr. Marchand worked as a law clerk under some of the best known trial attorneys in Texas and the nation at the prestigious firms of The Law Offices of Frank L. Branson, and Misko, Howie & Sweeney, both in Dallas. Mr. Marchand received his law degree from Southern Methodist University School of Law in May of 1994.

Mr. Marchand began his practice as an attorney with the Law Offices of Vic Terry, then joined the nationally known firm of Morgan & Weisbrod, where he rose to the position of Assistant Managing Partner. In 2002 he co-founded SMITH & MARCHAND, L.L.P., which became Marchand & Rossi, L.L.P.

Mr. Marchand has handled cases involving motor vehicle accidents, trucking accidents, construction injuries, chemical spills and exposure, manufacturing plant injuries, shootings and negligent security, vicious dog attacks, airplane crashes, as well as hundreds of medical malpractice, drug and medical device claims. Mr. Marchand has represented infants, children, adults and senior citizens who have suffered such injuries as brain damage, paralysis, paraplegia, quadriplegia, blindness, stroke, heart attack, broken bones and other orthopedic injuries, chemical burns, as well as the financial harm, and psychological and emotional injuries that accompany physical injuries.

Mr. Marchand has handled hundreds of personal injury claims, including more than 100 medical malpractice, drug and medical device claims, in all stages of investigation, pre-litigation, litigation, trial and appeal. From 1997 until 2006 he handled personal injury, medical malpractice, drug and medical device cases on a daily basis alongside board certified internal medicine physicians who were also attorneys and his law partners.

Mr. Marchand is a member of the Dallas Trial Lawyers Association, the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, the Dallas Bar Association, and the State Bar of Texas. Mr. Marchand has also been a member of the American College of Legal Medicine, the State Bar College, and the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Mr. Marchand is admitted to practice in Texas state courts and the United States District Courts for the Northern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas.

Mr. Marchand co-authored a chapter entitled "Drugs and Medical Devices" published by the West Group in the American Association of Justice's Litigating Tort Cases. Mr. Marchand also authored a chapter entitled "Introduction to American Jurisprudence" in the textbook Nursing Practice and the Law, published by F.A. Davis. Mr. Marchand co-authored with his wife and law partner, Leanna Marchand, "VBAC Suits and Risky Situations" and "Anesthesia Regs Required, Outpatient Procedures Scrutinized," both published in The Texas Lawyer. Mr. Marchand has also lectured on medical malpractice expert reporting requirements to members of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association.

Mr. Marchand has also been featured in a Channel 8 investigative report on bad doctors, reported by Becky Oliver, and conducted a trial in Fort Worth in which his client's case had been featured as the lead story on ABC's 20/20 episode on medical errors.

Mr. Marchand is married, and has five children and 5 grandchildren. His wife is one of his law partners, and his oldest daughter is also a lawyer with Marchand & Rossi, L.L.P. Mr. Marchand's outside interests include motor sports and backpacking.
